In my last letter, I shared how life’s chaos and calm carried me back to the canvas—how surrender became a doorway into painting again.

Awareness is where that doorway first opened.

Not in a mirror, but in a moment.

Not as others perceive me, but as I truly am.

Beneath the stories, the striving, the roles.

Beneath even my name.

The Vision in the Jungle

This painting did not begin with a brushstroke.

It began with a vision.

During ceremony, deep in meditation in the jungle of Maui, I saw her.

A shimmering, feminine being.

Her limbs moved like breath and sea—fluid, tentacled, radiant.

She appeared before me… and then, she moved through me.

A Cosmic Reflection

In that instant, I understood: she was me.

Not the self shaped by the world, but the one shaped by something far older.

The one that remembers.

I hadn’t set out to paint a self-portrait.

But Awareness became exactly that—

a portrait of the self beyond form and time.

A cosmic reflection. A returning.

The Spiral of Remembering

Life spirals rather than unfolds in a straight line.

Awareness moves in spirals too.

We remember, then forget.

We lose ourselves in the noise, the striving, the roles—

until suddenly, we fall still enough to feel the truth again.

This painting became a practice in that stillness.

Not clarity as a fixed state—but presence as devotion.

A continual homecoming.
